Barney Has A Home!

Barney has been hanging out at our house for about a month now. We named him Barney because he pals around with Andy (of course). Andy brings home the strays. They all just love him. Amber lost her 17 week old puppy and wanted another one and I told her mom about Barney. He is so loving and already over the "puppy" phase. He actually will hug you once he can trust you. Chevy is now Barney's companion, a 15-17 year old husky mix. I'm sure Chevy is enjoying his new mate as well.

"What shoes would look best with this jacket?"

This is Bella. I was taking a walk in the trail with Ginger, our older almost deaf and blind small dog, and I heard a rustling in the woods coming our way. She almost got right up on us before she realized we were there. I'm not sure who started yelping first but it was like the scene in ET with the girl and the alien screaming at each other with fear. I picked up the puppy and she settled down and was almost asleep by the time I made it home. She slept the first twenty four hours and then ate the next twenty four hours. She shivers alot so we got her the jacket. She seems to really like it. I don't think it will last though once she gets brave enough to start playing with the gang. We'll see.

Time to Play!

This is Holley and Hayden. They were dropped off on the side of the road near where I live and of course I picked them up. My neighbors relative had just lost their 4 legged baby that was black and wanted Hayden. I hated splitting them up but with all the others around to play with, Holley was like "Hayden who?". We had to go through several rounds of medication to fight off Red Mange but eventually got rid of it and I almost killed her in the process. I misread the instructions and was giving her 10 times the dose recommended for her weight. Oh well ... like they say ... what doesn't kill us makes us stronger and she is now big and strong and healthy.

Hey! Can't I groom in peace!

This is Ben. He also has been around for awhile. But about a year ago he got a severe ear infection and when we took him in to have surgery they told us he was diabetic. We had to get that under control before he could be operated on. About the middle of 2008 he was finally able to be operated on. It helped for a little while but by October, the ear infection started getting bad again. Next option was an aggressive surgery that the vet thought he wouldn't survive. So we decided that he had enough of the sticking and pricking and ear aches. Although he always did very well and would come sit in our laps after trying 3 or 4 times to get a blood reading, we decided to let him go with Clara. So also on October 20th 2008, he was allowed to finally be free from it all.

They call me "Bear Cub"

This is Clara. When she gets groomed, she looks like a bear cub. Laura picked her up along with Ginger many years ago and she has lived a good full life. She really enjoys the morning walks and I always felt safe becasue she was always on guard for anything out of the usual. That might be the part Chow in her. On October 20th 2008, we decided to let her go. She was old and suffering from a bone disease. She is still with us though every morning when we walk keeping an eye on us. Please see what I wrote after our first walk without her posted Oct 21st.

"I'm Batman!"

This is BJ ... Batman Junior. Don't you love his mask? I first noticed him at an exit of I65 on my way home. Over a 6 week period, I saw several people trying to aproach him with food but he always stayed six feet back. I even tried a few times with no luck. Laura stopped at the gas station to fill up and he basically walked right up to her. She opened the back door and he got in. I sometimes call him weirdo because I've never seen a dog that always has to go out whatever door he came in. He's very supersticious.

"Come on! I can take anything you can dish out!"
